For lovers of heritage buildings, Rylstone is a great find. This is a town where knock-downs and rebuilds are few, so the heritage characteristics have remained in place. We still list beautifully restored cottages with pressed metal ceilings, timber-framed sash windows and wide verandahs. They’re the kind of period details that aren’t being built anymore.
Country lifestyle with convenience
Rylstone is about a three- to three-and-a-half-hour drive from Sydney. Just 35 to 45 minutes away, Mudgee offers all the convenience of a larger centre so Rylstone offers you true rural space and quiet without you feeling cut off from the things you want like good wine and food and the variety you get from a larger regional town.
With around 650 residents, Rylstone has the feel of a country village. This town is one where neighbours know each other, kids walk to school and if you turn up at the pub on a Friday night, you’re likely to meet half the town (or it feels like it!)

If you’re a family that needs late-night takeaway delivery and eight cafés to rotate through each weekend, Rylstone probably isn’t your ideal home.
